SD28 District Career Programs & Partnerships Department
School History
The Career Programs, Partnerships and Work Experience department has been operating in School District 28 since 1990. Over 7000 students have participated in Career Programs and Work Experience and in the past 10 years, over $5 000 000 in partnerships have been implemented. Programs at Quesnel Secondary, Correlieu Secondary, Maple Drive Junior Secondary, McNaughton Centre and Continuing & Adult Education are respected provincially for their results. Over 30 teachers has some time to support over 500 students annually in Grades 10 to 12.
School District 28 Career Programs is a two time Conference Board of Canada National Award Winner--1996 for its Wood Products Program and 2002 for its Tourism Program.
North Cariboo businesses and organizations have provided outstanding support for thousands of students.
The 2002/2003 school year marks the beginning of Phase III implementation of Career Programs in School District 28. Phase I involved getting a program in place in the District. Phase II involved growth in the program; developing strong links with the community and post secondary; and impacting graduation, post secondary participation, and employment participation results. Phase III involves improving results further and joint development & refinement of curriculum modules with Post Secondary, Industry, Labour and Business.
