School District 28, Quesnel
Planning Information
(don't use) District Computer Technology Department
School History
Over 15 years the department has grown from one person and 30 computers to 5 people and approximately 1400 computers. Virtually all aspects of the district now depend on computers in one way or another, and the variety of uses continues to increase. The department has continually struggled to keep up with the increasing uses of technology in the district. These uses include:
- communications systems such as email and web services
- tools for students, teachers, other staff and administrators
- student learning programs
- school and district administration programs.
The staff includes the technology coordinator and four technicians.
Vision
Schools and offices in which computer technology is used effectively by students and staff, and contributes significantly to learning in all subjects. All graduating students have strong computer skills. Educators use technology to collect and analyze data, contributing to educational decisions. Technical support solves problems quickly. Hardware and infrastructure continually improve to allow new applications to be implemented smoothly. Technology costs, including technical support costs and hardware replacement, are considered in planning and decision making.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Computer Services department is to provide support to all areas of the district, making computer technology an effective contributor to the operation of the district and the education of all students.
