Parkland Elementary - Quesnel

School History
Parkland Elementary is located in a rural setting, surrounded by residential and park land, about 15 minutes north of the city of Quesnel and about 1 kilometre west of Highway 97. The building is nearly new, completed in October 1993 as a replacement for Pinecrest School which was located in the heart of Quesnel's heavy industrial area. The catchment area for the school is very large, extending from Quesnel city limits to approximately 50 kilometres north of Quesnel, and from Highway 97 to the Fraser River. While some students walk from a residential area at the north end of Ten Mile Lake, the vast majority of students are bussed. Some students at the north end of the catchment area have a bus ride of about 60 minutes. All high school students in the area are bussed to Quesnel Secondary School located in the city. The community is very stable with many families who have been long term residents of the area. Many current parents boast of their Pinecrest roots.
